Growth into Barn Manager
Top Rail Stables is a diverse equine facility located in Halton Hills, Ontario, situated on a beautiful 100-acre farm and home to 40+ horses. Our farm includes a breeding program, riding school, hunter/jumper show horses, an equine-assisted learning programs in partners with CAMH, horse transportation services, and boarding.
Our horses include broodmares and foals, yearlings, stallions, school horses, show horses, and retirees. We are passionate about providing exceptional care and creating a positive, professional environment for both horses and staff.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated, reliable, and experienced Barn Staff member to join our team. The successful candidate will be comfortable handling horses of all ages and temperaments and will take pride in maintaining high standards of horse care and barn management. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a long-term position within a growing equine business. For the right candidate, there is opportunity for advancement into a Barn Manager role.
Responsibilities:
- Daily horse care including feeding, watering, turnout, mucking stalls
- Maintaining clean and organized barn facilities
- Assisting with grooming, tacking and untacking horses for training rides
- Assisting with basic equine first aid and medication administration
- Handling and working safely around broodmares, foals, yearlings, stallions, school horses, and retirees
Qualifications:
- Previous horse handling and equine employment experience is required
- Comfortable and confident working with horses of varying ages, temperaments, and disciplines
- Reliable personal transportation is required.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically capable of performing demanding barn work, including lifting feed bags, mucking stalls, and working outdoors in all weather conditions
