Position Summary
To proactively support, champion and execute Alliston Group’s Estimating and Purchasing tasks by creating/maintaining vendor relationships and actively seeking opportunities for cost savings while maintaining the Alliston level of standard specifications.
Key Responsibilities
· Ongoing job set-up, maintenance and reviews in Homefront.
· Collaborate with other departments to improve or create new processes.
· Identify Estimating training opportunities and where efficiency and accuracy can be improved.
· Produce or refined Estimating processes/procedures to ensure consistent product is provided within an acceptable timeline.
· Implement Homefront software and train other departments in its uses (from an Estimating perspective). Note, each Manager is responsible for training their respective employees in its use.
· Complete and review tenders.
· Daily review of cost estimates from vendors.
· Create and maintain accurate material takeoffs.
· Monitor material usage in the field for overages and shortages with the objective to refine material allowances.
· Create model and option estimates and assemblies.
· Complete and calculate custom price requests and architectural controls allowances for Sales in a timely manner.
· Consistently and proactively maintain issuance of Purchase Orders (POs) and Variance Purchase Orders (VPOs).
· Procurement of vendors and suppliers.
· Assist with contract negotiations, scope of work communication to contractors, drawing reviews, specification revisions and selections reviews.
· Review actuals vs. budgets and establish cost-to-completes or draw stage budgets.
· Assist with coordinating holdbacks with the Office Manager and vendors.
· Assist with vendors’/contactors’ queries via phone, email and in person.
· Analysis of budgets, variances, trends and post occupancy incurred costs.
· Liase between Estimating team members, vendors/contractors, Construction, Design, Accounting and Sales Team member to ensure accurate of information for production.
· Manage Selection’s documentation in Homefront for each job.
· Notify all trades affected by change orders
· Participate in weekly or job specific meetings with to discuss problems/solutions and provide feedback from Estimating.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
· Ability to read and understand all plans, blueprints, grade slips, specifications, and associated construction documents.
· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Attention to detail.
· Good time management.
· Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
· Proven ability to handle large volumes of data.
· Sincere desire to provide “top of class” support and customer service.
· Ability to work competently in a fast-paced environment.
· Leadership experience
· Civil Engineering Technology, Construction or Architectural Technology diploma or equivalent experience.
· 5+ years’ experience in construction purchasing/estimating, preferably with a home builder.
· Homefront experience considered an asset.
Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
