Job Overview
Reporting to the President, the Inside Sales Team Leader (ISTL) will uphold company policies and lead by example as they oversee the daily activities of Inside Sales Team, provide leadership, direction and support. As a contributing member of the Inside Sales Team, the ISTL is responsible for their personal share of quote preparation & follow up as well as writing up and checking orders, warranty investigation and application engineering. The ISTL is additionally responsible for the performance of the Inside Sales Team, ensuring the timeliness, quality and accuracy of work produced by the department, while achieving and maintaining established departmental goals and objectives.
To be successful in this role, the ISTL requires: superior communication skills; a proven track record managing/coaching a small team; strong mechanical aptitude; experience with pumps or rotating equipment or some other similar equipment; an exceptional capacity to acquire technical knowledge; experience in a sales role; ability to effectively communicate with customers, all departments within the company and those on the Inside Sales Team; the ability to trouble shoot product performance inquiries and successfully navigate tough situations like warranty claims; the ability to prioritize and multi task ensuring the most effective use of time; ability to learn in a self-directed manner; energy and determination; positivity and a high level of professionalism.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Personally contribute by preparing a certain number of quotes and orders. Check orders written up by others on the Team. The ISTL will check the lion’s share of orders as this is the last stop before orders hit Production and last chance to catch mistakes.
· Provide technical mentoring including formal and informal training/tutoring for individuals or as a group to help improve and develop knowledge in areas of: pump operation & construction; application & selection of mechanical seals and motors, application engineering, trouble shooting, etc.
· Work with the Team to ensure corporate goals for profit are being met through adherence of pricing guidelines.
· Ensure the Team is aware of and adheres to company policies. Provide performance feedback through annual performance evaluations.
· Manage warranty claims.
· Preparing and providing guidance on quotes and orders requiring application engineering.
· Look for, suggest and implement ideas to improve efficiencies within the department.
· Through their own actions and behavior, the ISTL will set standards for conduct, communication, approach to problem solving and conflicts, timekeeping, work ethic, professionalism, respect for colleagues and the Company.
· Become an “expert” on a variety of pump brands, pump configurations/models, OEM design revisions, special features and the like. The ISTL will also have a good knowledge and understanding of pump application, operation, hydraulics, etc.
· Hiring and training new Technical Inside Sales Reps.
· Work closely with the National Sales Manager (business development) to coordinate efforts between outside sales and inside sales.
· Work closely with the Manager of Manufacturing and Engineering on engineered quotes and orders, warranty investigation, sample analysis, troubleshooting and the like.
· Reporting to the President: monthly sales reports; request for special pricing or discounts; updates on warranty claims and approval to proceed with repair/replacement under warranty; feedback on pricing and competition; occasional updates on the performance of individual Team members
REQUIREMENTS:
· Any combination of post secondary education and on the job training in the areas of: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration – Sales/Marketing
· Prior experience with pumps and a strong understanding of rotating equipment is highly valued
· Must have some experience with both: a) business to business sales/inside sales experience selling products and services and b) experience within a technical capacity such as applications, engineering/technology, technical support, field service for a manufacturer of pumping equipment (or other similar & relevant field).
· Minimum 2 years experience working in a manufacturing environment. Preference given to those with knowledge of pumps or similar rotating equipment.
· Minimum 3-5 years experience in a supervisory or management role.
· High level of Attention to detail.
· Prior experience with quote preparation (estimating) and order entry is required.
· Proven experience working with customers and managing customer expectations.
· Able to read and interpret machining drawings, pump assembly drawings, technical specifications
· Strong mechanical aptitude
· Above average math and deductive reasoning skills
· Experience using precision measuring tools (verniers)
· Strong aptitude for reading and interrupting of 2D mechanical drawings
· Experience with SAGE ERP or other similar ERP software
· Proficiency with Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) Preference to those with superior Excel skills
· Self starter and self motivated

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
