Job Description
The General Production Worker supports daily operations in a busy shop and yard by handling, sorting, and loading rebar and other metal materials. This role involves consistent heavy lifting, cleaning, and organizing materials to keep the yard and shop safe, efficient, and well maintained. You will work closely with a small team to move metal products, prepare loads, and ensure accurate measurement and counting of bundles.
Responsibilities

Handle and move rebar and other metal materials throughout the shop and yard using safe lifting techniques.

Load and unload rebar onto trailers and into bins, ensuring materials are properly placed and secured.

Measure product and count bundles accurately to support production and inventory processes.

Sort metal by type or destination and move it from one area to another as directed.

Work as part of a team of 2–4 people to lift and move heavy materials, with each person lifting approximately 40–50 lbs consistently.

Clean and maintain the yard and shop by removing unwanted waste, scrap, and debris.

Shovel dirt and other materials that accumulate in the shop to keep work areas clear and safe.

Perform general labor tasks such as sweeping, tidying workspaces, and organizing materials.

Support loading, sorting, and handling of scrap metal in a safe and efficient manner.

Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working in the shop and yard.

Collaborate with supervisors and team members to complete daily production and yard cleanup tasks on schedule.
Essential Skills

Previous experience working in a construction environment, including loading and unloading materials.

Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.

Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs consistently as part of a team lift.

Experience working in an outdoor and shop environment.

Ability to perform cleaning tasks, including sweeping and shoveling.

Strong work ethic and willingness to perform heavy, labor-intensive duties.

Reliability and punctuality for scheduled day or night shifts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Machine shop experience.

Experience operating cranes.

Machine operator experience.

Previous experience working with rebar.

Environments similar to metal fabrication, reinforcing steel, or construction-related production.

Work Environment
The role is based in a shop and yard environment focused on the design, fabrication, and installation of concrete reinforcing steel (rebar) and post-tensioning. You will work around metal materials, sorting and loading them into bins and onto trailers in an active industrial setting. The work is physically demanding, involves heavy lifting, and can be dirty, with tasks such as shoveling dirt, handling scrap metal, and general yard cleanup. You will work in a small team of 2–4 people under the direction of supervisors, collaborating closely to complete daily tasks safely and efficiently. Day shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, and night shift runs from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., providing structured hours in a production-focused environment where appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required.
