About the Position
The Buyer & Sourcing Specialist will oversee the strategic sourcing, negotiation, and category management of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) supplies, industrial equipment, tooling, and services across the company’s Canadian, US, and European facilities. The ideal candidate will streamline the indirect supply chain, consolidate vendors, and implement national or global contracts to support multi-site facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Category Management & Sourcing Strategy
- MRO Portfolio Management: Lead sourcing strategies for MRO categories, including spare parts, tooling, safety gear (PPE), lubricants, and industrial supplies.
- Services Procurement: Manage sourcing for facility services, equipment maintenance contracts, utilities, and outsourced operational services.
- Supplier Consolidation: Analyze spending data to consolidate local vendors into leveraged national or global supply agreements.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify alternative suppliers and dual-sourcing strategies to prevent operational downtime across manufacturing plants or facilities.
Procurement & Commercial Negotiation
- RFx Execution: Lead the end-to-end RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes for complex MRO bids and multi-year service contracts.
- Contract Negotiation: Draft and negotiate master service agreements (MSAs), service level agreements (SLAs), and pricing structures.
- Cost Reduction: Drive cost-saving and cost-avoidance initiatives through volume leveraging, standardization, and demand management.
- Transactional Buying: Issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve invoice match exceptions as required by accounts payable.
Operations & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Internal Alignment: Partner closely with the Plant Manager, Maintenance Team, and other departments to process purchase order requests and to understand requirements.
- Supplier Performance: Conduct regular performance reviews of supplier focused on fill rates, lead times, service quality and pricing.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of dedicated procurement or strategic sourcing experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment focusing on MRO items and industrial services.
- Systems Expertise: Strong proficiency with ERP platforms (e.g., PLEX, SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Contract Knowledge: Direct experience writing and evaluating performance-based SLAs and complex service contracts.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze highly fragmented spend data and turn it into actionable sourcing plans.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Certifications: Professional credentials such as CPSM, CSCP, or CIPS.
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with industrial machinery components, facilities maintenance, or manufacturing plant operations.
- Team player, results oriented with strong attention to detail

Pay: $80,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
