This position requires a self-motivated individual who owns their vehicle and is capable of managing their own business operations while adhering to all safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, knowledge of heavy equipment operation, and the ability to handle automotive repairs as needed.
*Duties*
- Operate and maintain a commercial vehicle for the transportation of freight across various routes.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods while adhering to scheduled timelines.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Manage documentation related to freight, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and inspection reports.
- Perform basic automotive repairs and maintenance on the vehicle to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain communication with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery status and any potential delays.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
*Requirements*
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving or freight transportation.
- Strong skills in heavy equipment operation, including forklifts.
- Basic knowledge of automotive repair techniques to handle minor repairs independently.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with clients and dispatchers.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team when necessary.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or routes based on business needs.
