POSITION SUMMARY: Curtis Powerworks Inc. is a family owned and operated utility line construction company that has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team to learn and grow in the utility trade. Union benefits without the dues. Candidate must be a self-motivated individual and a team player who can get along well with others. Must be capable of working with minimal supervision and in an outdoor environment. Operating modern equipment all over central Newfoundland. Typically driving a t880 tandem Kenworth dump truck hauling a tandem tag with a John Deere 75P that the successful candidate will stay on. 1 truck and excavator, one operator.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday 7am-7pm
Option for 10 days on 4 off shifts as well depending work load.
On Call for Emergency work after hours when required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years’ Experience operating excavator
- Valid class 3 license
-Dump truck and tag experience considered an asset
-Powerline experience
-Powerline hazards considered an asset
-First aid considered an asset
-Finish work experience considered an asset
-Rough terrain operation considered an asset.
-Positive mindset
-Team player
Duties:
-Operate 7.5 ton and 13 ton excavators in a powerline environment. (Excavator size will vary depending on task at hand)
-Drive tandem dump truck and tag to and from various the job sites.
-Digging pole holes and placing utility poles
-Building access roads and working pads where necessary
-On call for emergency work when necessary
-Operate on various terrain. I.E road sides, lawns, bogs, cliffs ect.
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, secure special attachments to equipment.
- Be able to operate equipment in demanding environment including around houses and near powerlines.
Security and Safety: Driving record check (abstract) or be able to provide one.
Work Site Environment: Outdoors various weather types. Various parts of the province.
Wage: $30-35 per hour depending on experience. Per Diems when out of town. Double time on after hours emergency work. Curtis Powerworks also offers Medical and Retirement benefits.
