Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our home care team. The ideal candidate will provide essential assistance to one client in need, ensuring their comfort and well-being in their private home. This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality care while promoting independence and dignity for the individual. Hygiene and cleanliness is highly required.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding and ensure dietary needs are met.
- Support clients with daily living activities in a clean and safe environment.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to enhance their quality of life, this will include daily exercises in a walker, using of a motorized bike, some light weights and including breathing exercises as well.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to the individual, particularly with their mental health and depression.
- Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes in health or behavior to family immediately.
- Collaborate with other staff and family members to develop individualized care plans.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or support roles is preferred, particularly with people with physical and vision limitations.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and safety practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with the client.
- Ability to perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean living space for the client and their family.
- Experience working with persons with disabilities is an asset.
- A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
