an Project-BasedbeforeElementary Teacher (Grades 2–4 Mixed-Age Classroom)
Summit Micro School – Toronto, ON
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Contract: Fixed-term (10 months), $45,000 for the fixed term of this contract.
Overview
Summit Micro School is a small, independent school offering personalized, project-based education from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8. We are a neurodiversity-affirming school, recognizing neurodivergence as a natural and valuable form of human diversity. This understanding shapes how we design curriculum, structure classrooms, and build relationships.
We are seeking a passionate, collaborative educator to lead our Grades 2–4 mixed-age classroom.
With class sizes of approximately 10–12 students, our teachers have the opportunity to know every learner deeply and to design programming that is genuinely responsive to individual strengths, interests, and needs. We value professional autonomy, thoughtful reflection, and collaboration, recognizing that the strongest learning environments are built by educators who are trusted to think creatively and respond to the children in front of them.
Our elementary program combines rigorous instruction in literacy and mathematics with high-quality, interdisciplinary Project Based Learning. We believe foundational academic skills and authentic inquiry belong together. Students develop strong reading, writing, mathematical thinking, and executive functioning skills while engaging in projects that connect disciplines, encourage critical thinking, and foster curiosity about the world around them.
Our students represent a wide range of strengths, interests, and neurodivergent profiles. We are looking for an educator who is committed to inclusive practice and who understands that meaningful relationships are the foundation of effective teaching. The successful candidate will create an academically challenging classroom where every child feels known, respected, and capable of success.
Summit Micro School is not a therapeutic program. While many of our students are identified as autistic, having ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, or other learning differences, our role is educational and supportive. We use responsive, relationship-based teaching practices to help students access learning, build independence, and contribute positively to our school community.
