About the Position:
The Behaviour Consultant provides organizational support across programs and collaborates with children, families, ASaP/ICC coaches, educators, team members, and community partners to support inclusive, meaningful participation for children in home, community, early learning and childcare and school environments. Through evidence-informed consultation, coaching, assessment, and capacity building, the Behaviour Consultant helps teams develop responsive strategies that promote child engagement, learning, development, and well-being. Working within a family-centered and strength-based framework, the Behaviour Consultant supports understanding of neurodevelopmental differences and fosters inclusive environments where all children can thrive.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This role applies principles of evidence-informed coaching and consultation practices to build capacity among educators, families, and multidisciplinary team members. It involves conducting observations and collaborative consultations to identify strengths, interests, supports, and opportunities that enhance children’s participation and engagement. Consistent communication is maintained through meetings, training activities, documentation, professional correspondence, data collection, and distance consultation to support collaboration and service coordination. The role also provides colleague-to-colleague coaching through team meetings, joint visits, and one-to-one conversations.
The Behaviour Consultant will participate in the development of child and educator goals and strategies related to child participation and engagement, as well as designing appropriate data collection formats and informational handouts as required. Consultation and support are provided to educators, program leaders, coaches, and families regarding child development, participation, engagement, and inclusion, with visit notes shared with ASaP/ICC coaches, team members, early learning and child care programs, and families as applicable. The role utilizes discipline-specific evidence-based practices in assessment, intervention, and evaluation, while also supporting team members with discipline-specific referrals and resources. This includes making referrals to and liaising with community agencies in areas related to communication and socials, in consultation with Kids Included early learning inclusion navigators.
In addition, the role requires a commitment to ongoing professional learning and maintaining current knowledge of emerging research, inclusive practices, and sector trends. It also contributes to program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, designing and facilitation professional learning and knowledge-sharing activities that support organizational learning and continuous improvement.
Compensation & Benefits: Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $40.93-$53.08, based on experience and education. The role is 21.00 hours per week. In addition, Kids Included provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes extended health, dental, and disability coverage, along with employer‑matched RSP contributions of up to 6%. Employees also have access to the TELUS Health Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Job Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree preferred; bachelor’s degree considered in a related field such as: Education, Psychology, Disability Studies, Behaviour Analysis, or related discipline
- Minimum of five years’ providing evidence-informed assessment, consultation, intervention planning, coaching and evaluation for children and families.

Physical Demands include: This role requires the ability to perform a range of physical and functional duties in a child-focused environment. The position involves prolonged periods of sitting while completing documentation and computer-based work, as well as frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and sitting on low chairs or the floor to interact effectively with children at their level. Candidates must have the manual dexterity to write notes, and use laptops or tablets. The role also requires lifting and carrying materials between vehicles, offices, and child care sites. Strong visual observation skills are essential for assessing articulation, gestures, play, behavior, and reviewing reports and assessments. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel between sites, including out-of-town locations, is required.
