Host / Guest Experience – Part-Time
The King’s Arms is looking for an outgoing, polished and personable Host/Hostess to join our front-of-house team.
As the first point of contact for our guests, our Host plays an important role in setting the tone for the entire experience. We’re looking for someone who is confident, friendly, organized and comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced restaurant environment.
This is not a position where you will simply stand at the front door. While hosting and managing the flow of the dining room will be your primary responsibility, you will also work alongside our service team throughout the evening.
Responsibilities
- Greeting and welcoming guests
- Managing reservations and walk-ins through our iPad-based reservation system
- Organizing seating and helping orchestrate the overall flow of the dining room
- Communicating wait times and table availability with guests and servers
- Answering the phone and assisting with reservation inquiries
- Learning table numbers, sections and the layout of the restaurant
- Assisting with clearing and resetting tables when required
- Providing water service and other guest assistance
- Running drinks or assisting the service team when needed
- Learning basic payment/POS procedures
- Maintaining a clean, organized and professional front entrance and host area
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 6 months of restaurant or hospitality experience preferred
- Friendly, outgoing and professional personality
- Polished presentation and strong communication skills
- Confident interacting with guests in person and over the phone
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Comfortable using an iPad and learning a digital reservation system
- Able to remain calm and organized during busy dinner services
- A team-first attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time evening position with regular shifts Wednesday through Saturday, beginning at 5:00 PM and typically finishing between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
While Sunday and Monday are not normally part of the regular schedule, flexibility for major holidays and special occasions such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and other busy restaurant dates is required.
Compensation
Ontario minimum wage plus additional tip-out based on restaurant sales.
