Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Contractor
Job Summary:
Join us at our family owned and operated Placer Gold Mine outside of Dawson City, Yukon until October of 2026 as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. This is a seasonal position hiring multiple candidates. Successful candidates will have their own service truck and be willing to travel to remote locations outside of Dawson City, YT.
We have a large fleet of Heavy Machinery across 3 remote Placer Gold Mines.
- Excavators (CAT 245, 349, 390 Volvo 220,480,700,750)
- Articulated Rock Trucks (Cat 740, 745, Volvo A35, A40)
- Dozers (CAT D6-10)
- Loaders (CAT 988, Volvo L220G, L250H, L260H, L250H)
- Graders (CAT 16G)
- John Deere, Generac Gensets and Generators
- Kenworth and Western Star Semi’s
And more…
Requirements:
- -Cat SIS, Volvo Prosis, John Deere Service Advisor and any other diagnostic tools necessary for the above noted machines
- -Mobile service truck with crane, welder and full toolkit
- 5yrs Experience
- WCB Clearance to work in The Yukon Territory
Responsibilities:
- -Work alongside other Heavy Duty Mechanics to limit downtime
- Perform preventative maintenance and SOS oil sampling
- Inspect and diagnose machines
- Keeps records of parts ordered and work done
- Create and maintain respectful working relationships with office team
We are ONLY hiring contractors with fully operational service trucks at this time.
This is a camp position with a 12 day on, 2 days off shift. Shift may vary for contractors. Camp accommodations include a private room, shared wash facilities and a dining hall providing 3 meals a day.
Wages to be discussed based on your hourly rate and equipment provided.
11hrs/day, 77hrs/week.

Pay: $80.00-$125.00 per hour
