Overview
Durose Manufacturing Ltd, A leader and progressive manufacturer of fabricated Steel products, is seeking a Steel Fabrication Detailer, with experience in a steel fabricating/welding and machining environment for their facility in Guelph.
Responsibilities
- Adhering to engineering policies, engineering standards, drafting conventions and procedures for all engineering and technical duties performed.
- Prepare detailed structural steel shop drawings and erection drawings
- Interpret architectural and structural engineering drawings and specifications
- Generate bills of materials and fabrication lists
- Ability to work in both 2D & 3D software.
- Modeling customer drawings to obtain component development using SolidWorks 3D and DraftSight, flat plate development.
- Creates all production drawings and shop floor paperwork and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements, including revision and document control management.
- Designing fixtures, jigs and templates to suit light to heavy plate steel assemblies.
- Process routing structuring/bill of material creation in our ERP system
Experience
- Post- Secondary Education - Manufacturing Engineering Technician/Technologist or Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist or equivalent
- Mandatory Qualification- minimum 3-5 years experience in steel detailing (fabrication focused), including stringers, stairs, platforms, railings, etc.
- Manufacturing knowledge regarding sheet metal and plate fabrication and a general understanding of welding concepts is required
- Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Knowledge of sheet metal nesting software and laser and plasma cutting
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with full ERP system terminology and functionality.
- Technical liaison with customer engineering, vendors, internal Production, Quality, Sales, Purchasing, Estimating and Account Managers.
- Plan and prioritize engineering projects as required.
