This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Health Information the Booking Clerk schedules appointments for Radiology, Ambulatory Care Clinics, Clinics, etc., as well as other applicable departments as they become part of the Central Scheduling process. Booking of Respiratory, Non Invasive Cardiology and Pain Management Clinics

Cross training with registration required.

Qualifications

Successful completion of Grade XII or equivalent required
Graduate of a post-secondary secretarial or office administration program or equivalent required
Successful completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course is required
1-2 years previous demonstrated experience with a computerized booking system is required
Related hospital exposure in an applicable setting is required
Proficiency in computer applications for Microsoft (Office Word & Excel) Outlook, Explorer, as well as Meditech computer training and experience is required
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, must be an effective team player
Ability to work independently and/or with others
Ability to work under pressure with time limitations
Understands the importance of accuracy
Current WHMIS certification required
Recent NVCI training / certification considered an asset
Ability to work Rotating Shifts may be required
Previous work attendance may be considered
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Long Assignment Full-time Position; 70 hours biweekly

Salary Information

Booking Clerk:
$19.5925 - $21.3666 hourly
