Sr Analyst Clean Energy Project Finance
Vancity
Toronto, ON
Are you connected with the community and want to create positive change both socially and financially? Curious about values-driven banking? We are the only Canadian bank committed to working exclusively with organizations focused on creating positive impact. If you see a future in turning social challenges into opportunities through finance, we see a future in you.

What’s the opportunity?

Help build different financial products for clean energy projects within a given set of investment criteria, with a focus on project economics and financial modeling.
Develop/review financial models to validate assumptions and support the analysis of projects.
Support due diligence on transactions, communicating with independent consultants and drafting credit applications.
Prepare investment memos, term sheets and associated materials (such as investment summaries and primers).
Help streamline the Company’s processes and workflows, integrating software and technology solutions.
Maintain a quantitative impact analysis model.
Support business development by working with the team to source and screen new project opportunities and supporting channel partnerships.
Support asset management activities including communication with existing clients, maintaining operational financial models and checking for operational performance and covenants.
Participate in setting overall direction and strategy for the Company’s project finance activities, including research and analysis of industries/markets (solar, energy efficiency, storage, and other distributed energy technologies), and analyzing specific investment opportunities.
Represent the Company in meetings with project developers, investors, and other stakeholders. This may involve giving presentations and attending conferences.

Imagine yourself: The day to day will vary greatly depending on what stage deals are and what other tasks (asset management, conferences, new market opportunities) pop up. For the most part your days will be filled with tasks related to driving deals through from new opportunity to financial close. Some days you will be meeting with project developers and digging into the structure and economics of their projects. Others you will be synthesizing this information into a financial model and memo, checking in throughout. If you are further into due diligence, your day may be filled emailing and coordinating with independent engineers and lawyers or crunching some numbers on deals in excel to prepare a final loan sizing. You will often be juggling a few projects at different stages at the same time. Throughout, you will be self directed, coordinating with teammates on tasks and priorities.

Are you?

Passionate and dedicated (like us!) about disrupting clean energy and finance.
Strong communicator (both written, verbal & non-verbal); in particular, you can synthesize information for presentation.
Able to work creatively and independently, manage projects and take direction as needed.

Do you have?

A post secondary degree in business, economics, finance or engineering is preferred; however, candidates with other degrees will also be considered.
3+ years of experience in investment banking, project finance, infrastructure finance, clean energy project development, private equity or other related experience.
Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis of clean energy, energy efficiency projects, related infrastructure investments, and/or detailed clean energy project development or due diligence.

Bonus points, if you have:
Professional designations (CFA, CPA, P.Eng. LEED, PMP, etc.) are considered an asset.

Who will you be working with?

In this role, you will report into the Director of Clean Energy Business Development / Project Finance.

If you’re interested in putting your values to work, apply online. In your cover letter please respond to the following questions:
