Job description:
Potential work activities will include assessments and monitoring in freshwater, marine and terrestrial environments. Candidates may be responsible for completing the following tasks, in addition to other work as needed, either independently or working with other team members in a supervisory or collaborative role.
- Conducting biological and environmental assessments to accepted standards
- Managing field data and preparing technical reports
- Preparing environmental management plans and work instructions
- Acting as an on-site environmental monitor at construction sites and instream projects
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff

Applicants are encouraged to highlight marine assessment experience, including boat driving and navigation. Relevant experience with environmental assessment for terrestrial / aquatic environments and supporting regulatory processes for development and infrastructure projects is also an asset.
Starting wage will be based on the level of experience and training/education of the applicant. We offer paid professional development opportunities and cover cost of professional dues for permanent employees.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be physically fit, able to work independently or as part of a team, be available for work at night and / or on weekends and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Camp work may be required. The ability to be flexible with scheduling at short notice is an asset.
Desired qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant discipline (biology, ecology, resource management or environmental science), or comparable education and experience.
- Professional designation (ABT, RBTech, RPBio).
- Minimum 3 years relevant consulting experience
- Valid electroshocking certification
- Valid swiftwater rescue technician training (minimum Level 1)
- First aid with CPR component
- Boat operator certification (PCOC or SVOP) and experience
- Experience with erosion and sediment control techniques, water quality monitoring
- Experience with data management and report preparation, including the use of Office365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel)
- Experience with GPS and GIS, including field data collection and data processing using QGIS or similar software.
- Exceptional organization, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to unexpected project and schedule changes and support other staff members as needed.
