Facility & Parks Supervisor

Major Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and schedules the daily operation and maintenance of all aspects of parks and facilities, and any other services provided by the Department; as required
  • Operation and maintenance of the Ripley Cemetery including the sale of plots, grave opening and closing services, and record keeping
  • Coordinates arrangements for events held in Municipal Facilities, including scheduling of bartenders
  • Completes bar stock inventory, ordering supplies, floats, tickets, cash, deposits related to all licensed events
  • Assists in the installation, maintenance, and removal of the ice surface
  • Provides input into departmental goals and objectives
  • Provides input into the development of yearly capital and operating budget for the Department
  • Assists the Director with monthly and annual departmental reports
  • Has knowledge of pertinent provincial statutes and acts and ensures they are followed; such as, Municipal Act, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Play Space Equipment Standards Act, Liquor Act and the Cemetery Act
  • Leadership and guidance to full-time, part-time and seasonal staff, encouraging teamwork
  • Conducts performance evaluations, and makes recommendations concerning performance management
  • Ensures compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and, any and all regulations made under the Act

The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Training on specialized equipment
  • Certified in the use of pesticides or able to obtain certification
  • Ability to operate large equipment, such as Olympia ice resurfacer
  • Ability to understand and interpret legislation, contracts, policies etc.
  • Good computer skills

Experience:

  • 5 years related experience
  • Working with the public
  • Excellent working knowledge of building, property and cemetery maintenance
  • General knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
  • Must have current knowledge of applicable Acts, legislation and regulations
  • Budgeting experience
