The Department of Chemistry is seeking applicants for a Limited Term Appointment (LTA) as a sessional lecturer during the 2019-2020 academic year, specializing in the area of organic chemistry. This LTA is for a full calendar year (September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020), and will involve the preparation and teaching of seven (7) workload units in addition to some service to the Department and University. Specifically, we are looking for a qualified instructor who is able to teach the following CHEM courses (not all of which will be available):

110 Introductory Chemistry

113 Principles of Chemistry I

114 Principles of Chemistry II

213 Organic Chemistry I

214 Organic Chemistry II

311 Intermediate Organic Chemistry I

412 Topics in Organic Chemistry

Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.

Qualifications
Candidates are required to hold a PhD from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution in chemistry or a closely related field. Applicants should have an outstanding ability to teach and communicate with undergraduate students, and must be able to instruct a diverse student population (with varying backgrounds) across a broad range of the undergraduate Chemistry curriculum. The successful candidate will also be expected to partake in some form of service to the department and/or university.

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching at UFV, particularly in the area of organic chemistry.
