Real-Time Note Taker

The role of the computerized real-time note taker has two main functions both of which ensure equal access for students who are Deaf and/or hard of hearing. The first role is to capture, in real time, everything that is heard in the classroom using a laptop computer. The second role is to provide an edited copy of the notes to the student. The real-time note taker will provide note taking services in a variety of discipline subjects and educational settings including, classroom lectures, tutorials, shop/labs.

What We Are Looking For:
Must have a minimum typing speed of 70 wpm.
Demonstrated technical competence in Word Processing and related computer skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent active listening skills with the ability to sustain prolonged concentration and take accurate notes in a variety of subject areas.
Articulate with a strong command of the English language.
Excellent spoken and written communication skills, and exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving abilities, along with a high degree of flexibility, maturity, patience and professionalism.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and work in an environment where a diversity of people and situations are encountered.
Awareness of academic integrity and ethical guidelines in a post-secondary setting.
Experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
Knowledge of Deaf Culture and Disability Services an asset.
