Lean Production Manager
Location: Sudbury, ON (Relocation Assistance Available)
Our client is a growing Canadian manufacturer of specialized heavy industrial equipment serving the mining industry. As the business continues to experience strong year-over-year growth, they are transforming their manufacturing operation from a custom, build-to-order environment into a world-class lean manufacturing operation.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Lean Production Manager to lead that transformation. Reporting directly to the General Manager and serving as a member of the senior leadership team, you will champion the implementation of lean manufacturing principles while building a culture focused on operational excellence, quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
- Lead the transformation from a custom cell-build environment to a lean production line operation.
- Design, implement, and sustain Lean Manufacturing systems across the production floor.
- Improve plant organization, cleanliness, material flow, and visual management.
- Implement and drive Lean tools including:
- Takt Time Management
- 5S
- Kaizen Events
- Heijunka
- Visual Management
- Standard Work
- Manufacturing Cell Design
- Coach, mentor, and develop production leaders and supervisors.
- Partner closely with Engineering and Supply Chain to resolve production challenges.
- Improve productivity, throughput, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Reduce manufacturing costs through process improvements and strategic outsourcing where appropriate.
- Lead production quality and safety initiatives.
- Develop assembly manuals, standardized work instructions, and production processes.
- Manage departmental budgets and production KPIs.
- Build systems, processes, and operating standards that support future growth.
What We're Looking For
- 3-5+ years of leadership experience in the manual assembly of heavy rubber-tired industrial equipment, such as:
- Mining equipment
- Construction equipment
- Agricultural equipment
- Heavy mobile machinery
- Demonstrated success implementing or leading Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Strong understanding of:
- Kanban
- Just-in-Time (JIT)
- Line-side Logistics
- Manufacturing Standard Work
- Cell Design
- Production Preparation Process (3P)
- Experience improving workflow, reducing waste, and increasing production efficiency.
- Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering degree (or equivalent technical education and experience).
- Strong leadership, coaching, and change management skills.
- Experience in ISO manufacturing environments is considered an asset.

Pay: $120,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
