Position Summary
The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day human resources functions at Elmwood Community Resource Centre (ECRC). Reporting to the Executive Director and the Director of Finance, the Coordinator supports the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, employee engagement and wellness, performance management, policy implementation, and compliance with employment legislation. Working collaboratively with leadership and staff, the Human Resources Coordinator helps foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture that aligns with ECRC's mission, values, and strategic priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive HR experience.
- Knowledge of Manitoba Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workplace Safety & Health, and privacy legislation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- CPHR designation and nonprofit experience are considered assets.
Duties and responsibilities
- Coordinate the day-to-day human resources operations of the Centre, including maintaining confidential employee records, preparing employment documentation, administering HR systems, coordinating employee benefits, and ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of personnel information.
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment and onboarding processes, including workforce planning support, job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, reference checks, employment offers, orientation, and onboarding while promoting equitable, inclusive, and barrier-free hiring practices.
- Coordinate employee engagement, wellness, recognition, and staff appreciation initiatives that promote an inclusive, respectful, psychologically safe, and positive workplace culture while supporting employee retention and organizational success.
- Coordinate probationary reviews, annual performance evaluations, employee development plans, learning and professional development opportunities, and performance management documentation to support employee growth and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, while supporting employee relations, conflict resolution, workplace accommodations, and the resolution of workplace issues using a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and solution-focused approach.
- Assist in the development, implementation, interpretation, and regular review of human resources policies, procedures, and workplace guidelines to ensure consistency, fairness, and compliance with organizational standards and applicable legislation.
- Ensure compliance with Manitoba Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation, Workplace Safety and Health legislation, accessibility requirements, privacy legislation, and other applicable employment laws by monitoring legislative changes and recommending updates to policies and practices.
- Support organizational development and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to strengthen HR systems, streamline processes, enhance employee experience, implement best practices, and improve organizational effectiveness.
- Prepare HR reports, maintain workforce metrics, and support organizational planning through accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Director of Finance, and organizational leaders to support workforce planning, succession planning, and strategic human resource initiatives.
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, ethical practice, and discretion in all human resources matters.
- Perform other duties consistent with the position and organizational priorities as assigned.
