The FASD Network of Saskatchewan is seeking independent contract mentors to provide mentorship and direct daily living support to youth as well as adults living with FASD. These opportunities are part time with varying hours including the potential for work on the evenings and weekends. The FASD Network of Saskatchewan is looking to assist individuals and families to contract people as independent mentors through two funding streams: the Cognitive Disability Strategy or Jordan’s Principle.
The FASD Network has locations in Saskatoon and Regina as well as provides support services province-wide. Please specify which community you are located in when applying for this position.
The ideal candidate for a mentorship position will:
- Have experience supporting individuals with FASD or other cognitive disabilities.
- Possess cultural awareness and an awareness of issues specific to disabilities.
- Be willing to acquire an in-depth understanding of FASD.
- Have a willingness to learn about community resources, services and programs.
- Support and assist individuals in accessing services for legal aid, financial aid, housing,
medical treatment or other services.
- Provide advocacy for the individual in the community.
- Have proficient documentation and organizational skills.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
- Provide a criminal record and a vulnerable sector check.
