Northstar Medical is hiring Saskatchewan-licensed Nurse Practitioners for a virtual primary care program serving patients who do not have a regular family doctor or nurse practitioner.
This is remote clinical work for patients in Saskatchewan. You practise as an independent contractor with Northstar Medical — not as government or health-authority staff.
What you’ll do
- Provide virtual primary care by secure video, telephone, and messaging
- Assess and treat common acute and stable chronic primary-care concerns
- Prescribe medications and renewals
- Order labs and diagnostic imaging
- Make specialist referrals and follow up on results and referrals
- Escalate to in-person, urgent, or emergency care when virtual care is not enough
- Complete timely clinical documentation and visit summaries
- Follow privacy, safety, and clinical protocols (including crisis response)
Schedule
- Core coverage is typically weekdays, about 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saskatchewan time
- Evening/weekend shifts may be available later if the program expands hours
- Flexible contractor scheduling within program capacity needs
Requirements
- Active College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) licence authorizing NP practice in Saskatchewan (exclusive virtual-care licensure acceptable where applicable)
- Good standing with no restrictions that would prevent safe virtual primary care
- Active CNPS malpractice coverage (or CMPA-equivalent) suitable for virtual care
- Willingness to complete Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Practitioner Staff credentialing before seeing patients (including references, criminal record check / vulnerable sector check, and required forms)
- Comfort delivering care virtually and documenting in an electronic clinical platform
- Reliable high-speed internet and a private workspace suitable for telehealth
- Located in Canada
Nice to have
- Experience in virtual care / telehealth
- Experience with unattached or walk-in / episodic primary care populations
- Experience closing the loop on labs, imaging, and specialist referrals
