Job Summary
SAMBAL is a modern Indonesian bistro at The Danforth. We are currently hiring Line/Prep Cooks to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, reliable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Asian cuisine is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Assist cooks and chefs in food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Help with inventory management by restocking supplies as needed.
- Support the cooking staff during meal service by preparing ingredients and plating dishes.
- Participate in cleaning tasks at the end of shifts to maintain a hygienic kitchen.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Line/Prep Cook in a restaurant or professional kitchen
- Familiarity with Asian or Southeast Asian cuisine is a strong asset
- Culinary school diploma or training (preferred)
- Food Handler Certification
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
