We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented AutoCAD Technician to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and technicians, contributing to impactful projects that support both environmental protection and infrastructure development.
Job Overview:
As an AutoCAD Technician at Fisher Engineering Limited, you will play a critical role in supporting the engineering team by preparing precise and detailed AutoCAD drawings for a wide range of environmental and geotechnical projects. You will work closely with our engineers to develop plans, design layouts, and create drawings that support soil testing, site development, and environmental assessments.
This would be an in office position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting & Design: Produce high-quality, accurate AutoCAD drawings for geotechnical and environmental projects, including site plans, soil boring logs, geological maps, and cross-sections.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and field technicians to ensure design specifications are met and reflected in the drawings.
- Modifications & Revisions: Revise and update designs based on project changes, client feedback, or regulatory requirements.
- Site Data Representation: Incorporate data from field investigations (soil samples, borehole data, etc.) into AutoCAD drawings.
- Quality Control: Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards, guidelines, and local codes.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and related project documents.
- Compliance: Ensure that all drawings adhere to environmental and geotechnical engineering standards, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or certificate in Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with AutoCAD in a civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering environment.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD software (AutoCAD 2026 experience is an asset).
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical and environmental design standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality technical drawings.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with project teams.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with Canadian building codes and environmental regulations is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite is an asset.
- Knowledge of environmental and geotechnical engineering principles is beneficial.
