Local Immigration Partnership (L.I.P.) Initiative
Position: L.I.P. Coordinator
Full-time, 35 hours per week - $29/hour
The Purpose Society is seeking a Coordinator to oversee the Local Immigration Partnership initiative of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This federal initiative position is to carry forward the work of the Welcoming and Inclusive New West (WINS) Local Immigration Partnership Council in New Westminster. This position is contracted until April 30, 2025 with possibility of extension until 2030.
The primary goal of the Council is to create an environment whereby newcomers can maximize settlement and integration outcomes. This will be achieved by increasing the capacity of the community through the activities of the Council. These activities will result in increased planning and coordination of settlement service delivery synchronized with strategies to create a more welcoming, equitable, and inclusive community.
The primary role of the Coordinator will be to uphold and advance an established broad-based partnership council that is representative of the community, and to work with the Local Immigration Partnership Council by providing coordination and administrative support, and facilitating the development and implementation of the Council activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide coordination and administrative support of the Local Immigration Partnership Council.
- Facilitate the development and application of a Strategic Action Plan.
- Facilitate the development of a Community Settlement Plan.
- Conduct research and raise awareness about newcomers’ needs.
- Develop collaborative relationships with, but not limited to, government, education and health sectors; settlement, community and social services; Indigenous, ethno-cultural and faith-based organizations; immigrant and other groups.
- Facilitate and support working groups, and the planning, execution, and evaluation of activities.
- Locate other funding to support Council activities.
- Complete required project documentation, evaluation, and reports.
Qualifications:
- A Degree in social service or community development work, or other related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to work effectively with volunteers, non-profit agencies and other community-based and governmental organizations
- Strong group facilitation skills
- Experience organizing and implementing community activities and events
- Sound understanding of issues related to anti-racism, diversity, language, and settlement
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
- Good time management and organizational management skills
