Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addiction Counsellor with CCAC to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction, helping them navigate recovery processes. This role involves working closely with patients across various settings, including hospitals and community clinics, to promote healing and long-term sobriety. The Addiction Counsellor will utilize their expertise in patient care, case management, and research to develop personalized treatment plans and support systems. A strong background in working with rehabs is highly valued, along with familiarity with medical terminology and data collection methods.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery and mental health support.
- Collaborate with medical teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Assist patients in understanding the effects of addiction, coping strategies, and relapse prevention techniques.
- Manage case files, document progress, and collect relevant data to monitor treatment outcomes.
- Engage in ongoing research to stay current with best practices in addiction treatment and patient care.
- Support patients with co-occurring conditions such as mental health disorders or pediatric needs when applicable.
- Coordinate with families, schools, or community organizations for holistic support, especially when working with children or special populations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to healthcare regulations and ethical standards.
Experience
- Prior experience working in hospital settings or with rehab is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people with addiction
- Experience in patient care, case management, or data collection within healthcare or social services environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to addiction treatment and mental health is advantageous.
- Familiarity with research methodologies related to addiction recovery and behavioral health is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams are essential for success in this role.
Pay: $22.62-$33.00 per hour
