Southcentre Family Medical Clinic | Autism Exists Diagnosis Clinic – Calgary, AB
Two clinics in one facility.
This position is part-time (18-20 hours/week immediately upon hire) with the potential to transition to full time based on operational needs. You must be comfortable with this time-line. Shift hours are generally for Afternoons/Evenings and Saturdays.
Southcentre Family Medical Clinic and Autism Exists Diagnosis Clinic operate together within one modern, patient-focused facility in South Calgary. Southcentre Family Medical provides comprehensive family medicine and walk-in services, while Autism Exists Diagnosis Clinic focuses on the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in adults. The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) will support both clinics using shared resources and systems, contributing to a collaborative, professional, and compassionate healthcare environment where teamwork, organization, attention to detail, and initiative are essential. Knowing how to be a good team-mate is key to success in this role.
Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Greet and register patients in a courteous and professional manner
- Process incoming/outgoing faxes, referrals, and medical documents accurately
- Manage front desk operations, including answering phones, emails, and patient inquiries
- Take initiative to streamline workflows for improved efficiency and create new clinic protocols/routines.
- Book, confirm, modify, and manage appointments using AVA EMR and online booking systems
- Prepare exam rooms before appointments and sanitize rooms/equipment between patients
- Perform post-visit room turnover and restocking of supplies
- Scan, label, and upload documents to patient charts in the EMR
- Handle prescription renewals and requisition forms under physician guidance
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, measuring height/weight, and documenting health history
- Provide general administrative support, such as billing, filing, and organizing medical forms
- Communicate professionally with patients, physicians, and allied healthcare providers
- Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., Alberta’s HIA)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical workspace
- Assist in managing inventory and ordering medical or office supplies
- Adapt to a fast-paced, team-based medical environment with multitasking responsibilitiesRequirements
- Traits: Initiative, Extremely Organised, Motivated, VERY Detail oriented and Team Oriented individuals.
- Minimum 1 years in a medical office
- Working knowledge of AVA EMR preferred
- Comfortable with new technology (you will be tested on how quickly you pick up on technical skills at the interview)
- Strong multitasking, communication, and excellent customer service skills
- Proficiency with Libre Office / Google Docs
- Professional and friendly demeanor
- Previous experience in a family medical practice or AHS setting is a strong asset
