Role: Site Superintendent

Role Outline:
Deadline-driven construction superintendent who will oversee construction projects and drive results to meet or beat schedule requirements. The construction superintendent will lead and manage the on-site construction team and oversee all work on site. The construction superintendent will be responsible for organization on-site and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The site superintendent will ensure quality standards are met, and all equipment and materials are available on-site at all times. They will liaise with inspection authorities regarding approvals and manage the project timelines.
Role Description:
Responsibilities & Essential Duties
- Plan, schedule, organize, supervise, and direct, day-day activities on project sites while tracking compliance to schedule and budget targets
- Accountability for maintaining a safe work place in compliance with local regulations and Lear safety policies
- Assist with development of the critical path master schedule
- Prepare and maintain 6 week look ahead detailed schedules
- Set-up and maintain a safe and clean site providing consideration for the public, neighbours, and professional image of the company
- Accountable for ensuring the site is secure at all times
- Responsible for daily reports, progress reports, compliance reports and logs of all critical communication and discussions
- Ensure construction occurs in compliance with contract documents and permit conditions
- Prepare RFIs and notify project management team of issues or inconsistencies within contract documents
- Tracking of as-built conditions or variations to site conditions which may impact the contract
- Liason with field level contacts for all suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with their contractual obligations
- Organize and conduct daily progress and safety meetings with trade representatives
- Procures equipment, materials and resources as require for the project while maintaining budget and scheduling requirements
- Establishes quantities, prepares orders and tracks delivery for self-performed scopes including carpentry and concrete
- Tracks, approves and submits hourly time sheets for payroll and cost reporting procedures
- Confers with supervisory personnel and employees (with appropriate assistance from supervisor and P&C) to resolve complaints and grievances within the work force
- Works with supervisory personnel and employees, engineers, architects, subcontractors, inspectors, and suppliers of tools and materials to improve construction methods and resolve construction issues
- Manages the work of all subcontractors and personnel on site. Responsible for initial quality review of work performed.
- Coordinates the work of all subcontractors and works to identify conflicts in the contract documents in advance so as to keep the project on schedule.
- Follows and enforces company policies and procedures
- Coordinates and oversees regulatory inspections satisfying occupancy requirements
- Responsible for all temporary protection during the construction process
- Correction of all deficiencies and warranty requirements
Qualifications
- Journeyman/Red Seal Trade Certificate with minimum of 10 years of relevant construction experience
- Gold Seal Certification considered an asset
- Knowledge of local, provincial and federal building regulations/codes, ordinances and legislation including OH&S
- Able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization – including labourers, technical staff, professionals and upper management – both verbally and in writing.
- Strong numerical skills with application towards budget and construction considerations
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, Accounting Software and Bluebeam Revu.
