Fibre Optic Splicer / Technician — TELUS Network Experience Preferred
We are looking for an experienced Fibre Optic Splicer / Technician to join our growing telecommunications team in the Lower Mainland.
This is a hands-on field position for someone with real fibre splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and network construction experience. Previous experience working on the TELUS network is strongly preferred.

What You'll Be Doing
- Fusion splice single-mode and multi-mode fibre
- Work with fibre closures, splice trays, FDHs, cabinets, racks, and patch panels
- Perform OSP and ISP fibre splicing
- Complete OTDR, power meter, and light source testing
- Interpret OTDR traces and troubleshoot fibre faults
- Perform fibre repairs and network troubleshooting
- Install and route fibre through conduits, risers, trays, telecommunications rooms, and outdoor pathways
- Terminate SC/APC, SC/UPC, LC, and other fibre connector types
- Read construction drawings, splice diagrams, fibre assignments, riser drawings, and construction packages
- Label and dress fibre according to client and industry standards
- Complete test documentation, redlines, and as-built information
- Perform work according to TELUS specifications and quality standards where applicable
- Maintain splicing and testing equipment
- Follow company and client safety requirements
Candidates with previous TELUS network experience will be given preference.
Ideally, you have experience with some or all of the following:
- TELUS fibre construction and splicing standards
- TELUS OSP and ISP fibre infrastructure
- GPON/PON networks
- Feeder and distribution fibre
- FDHs and fibre distribution infrastructure
- MDU fibre installations
- TELUS splice packages, fibre assignments, and network drawings
- TELUS testing and documentation requirements
- Fibre troubleshooting and repair on active networks
You should be able to understand a splice package or network drawing, determine what work needs to be completed, perform the required splicing/testing, and accurately document the completed work.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 1–3+ years of fibre optic splicing experience
- Strong fusion splicing skills
- Strong understanding of single-mode fibre
- Experience using OTDRs, power meters, and light sources
- Ability to interpret OTDR traces, not simply operate the tester
- Experience building and organizing splice trays and fibre closures
- Ability to read fibre drawings and splice schedules
- Good troubleshooting skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Professional attitude when working on client sites
- Valid driver's licence
- Reliable transportation
- Comfortable working outdoors, in telecommunications rooms, risers, and at heights when required
- Physically capable of lifting and moving tools, equipment, and cable
