Executive Director
The Executive Director will be responsible for leading, organizing and overseeing the daily operations of the Treaty 8 Urban Office. This role will ensure that the organization is well-coordinated and productive by managing the daily processes, and effectively leading and coaching staff. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various organizational and leadership processes. The goal of this role is to ensure smooth daily operational activities, while at the same time facilitating long-term success of the Treaty 8 Urban Office.
This role is offered as a term contract ending March 31, 2027, aligned with current funding timelines. Renewal or extension is not guaranteed and will be determined once future funding commitments are confirmed.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the Chief Administrative Officer, and managers of the Treaty 8 Urban Office to create the strategic plan for the Treaty 8 Urban Office
- Liaise with the managers of the Treaty 8 Urban Office to make decisions for operational activities and monitor achievement of strategic goals
- Work with the Chief Administrative Officer to plan the daily operations of the Treaty 8 Urban Office to ensure smooth progress
- Provide effective team and project management, including overseeing project completion timelines and monitoring project costs
- Regular management meetings and supporting a successful organization
- Continuously reshape the organization’s best practices to ensure the Treaty 8 Urban Office is providing the best possible service to children, youth and families
- Maintain strong relationships with all Treaty 8 Urban Office stakeholders
- Provide outstanding leadership to team members, including opportunities for coaching and development and providing constructive feedback
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of policies and procedures according to strategic and organizational objectives, and implement improvements
- Identify patterns and problem areas, and implement effective solutions to increase effectiveness
- Identify opportunities for program and organizational enhancements, and effectively implements change initiatives
- Report regularly to the Chief Administrative Officer, Treaty 8 Urban Office with completed on-budget and on-time projects, and ensuring project outcomes have been achieved Advise and make recommendations related to Treaty 8 policy and program development
- Participate in programs and activities that promote work-place diversity and a positive employee relations environment
- Present reports, recommendations and information to the Chief Administrative Officer
- Work collaboratively with various levels of government related to funding, programming, reporting and budgeting.
- Performing other related duties as required
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Social Work Degree or Human Services related field with supervisory experience
- Valid class 5 driver’s license, reliable transportation
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check including vulnerable sector and Child Intervention (Welfare) Record Check (must be dated less than 3 months upon hiring).
- Minimum 5 years in Human Services or related field with progressive leadership experience
- Minimum 4 years in a senior management or executive role
- Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Office, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Knowledge & understanding of Treaty 8 First Nations community, culture and language will be an asset

Compensation is based on salary grid.
