We're looking for a Test Technician to join our R&D team and contribute to the development of new electric heat products for a variety of industries and markets. This role is critical in driving our mission to support global decarbonization and digitization trends through advanced electric heating solutions.
The R&D Test Technician supports the research and development team by building, assembling, and testing prototypes and experimental setups in a laboratory environment. This role is hands-on and involves executing test plans, collecting data, and preparing reports. The technician also assists in maintaining lab equipment and ensuring the R&D workspace operates efficiently and safely.

Assist engineers and senior team members in the research, testing, and development of new products by carrying out assigned tasks and supporting experimental activities.

Build and assemble prototype components, test samples, and basic fixtures using provided drawings, instructions, or guidance from engineering staff.

Support troubleshooting activities on products and related equipment by performing inspections, running tests, and helping identify potential issues under direction.

Prepare basic technical documentation, including test procedures, data summaries, and simple lab reports, ensuring information is clear, accurate, and complete.

Collect, record, and organize test data, and assist in comparing results against defined acceptance criteria, industry standards (CSA, UL, IEC), and customer specifications.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of laboratory testing, including electronic data files, reports, and supporting documentation.

Assist with the upkeep, calibration, and general maintenance of lab equipment, ensuring tools and workspaces remain clean, safe, and functional.

Review updated codes and standards and assess impact on product design.

Provide enhancement and continuous improvement to existing products and processes.

Support ongoing product and process improvement efforts by providing feedback from testing activities and assisting with implementation of design updates or changes.

2-5 years of hands on experience in a Technician or Technologist role

Baseline proficiency in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and measurement disciplines

Experience with test equipment and instrumentation, such as:

Multimeters
-
Power supplies
-
Data acquisition systems (DAQ)

Temperature measurement devices
-
Must have good manual dexterity and possess general proficiency with tools for working with sheet metal, electric wiring, wood and other building materials

Excellent knowledge of safe working practices

Basic proficiency with Excel or similar tools for data entry, simple analysis, and charting

Ability to read and understand drawings, test procedures, standardsspecifications

Strong organizational skills for maintaining test records, lab documentation, and equipment logs

Mechanical/Electrical technical diploma or equivalent

Experience working with heating products, temperature testing, and control systems

Exposure to basic CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor)

Familiarity with basic control systems or PLCs

Experience with calibration or maintenance of lab equipment

Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation or progress toward certification.
