The Quality Control Inspector works closely with all levels of management and employees to ensure the development of our quality program at Keys Welding Service. The role will recommend strategic direction and implement plans based on recent quality audit results and will ensure that policies and programs meet customer requirements. The role will also be responsible for providing field support for the quality requirements of significant projects.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct and assist with projects aimed at improving product quality by reducing rejects, rework and variability through automated approaches
- Engage in project work aimed at improving yields and reducing costs
- Collect, analyze, and trend quality data and issue quality reports
- Provide technical assistance to line operating personnel to resolve process and quality problems
- Provide technical assistance to other business units to address product issues and resolve complaints
- Review daily quality and disposition hot-rolled products including surface evaluation, mill and quality audits, and assessments of non-conforming products
- May be required to handle samples for inspection purposes
Required Education and Experience:
- CWB Level 1 Inspector or equivalent
- Two years or greater of experience implementing and promoting quality practices and policies.
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Good problem-solving skills, effective and accurate decision making
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge and understanding of statistical process control and analysis techniques
- Ability and desire to work in a shop floor environment
- An enthusiastic approach and ability to learn quickly and assume responsibility are essential
- Ability to travel occasionally and work flexible hours including occasional weekend coverage.
