Reporting directly to the Manager, Development Review Services, this role is responsible for processing a wide range of development applications and acting as a resource for staff, Council and the public in regards to planning processes and policies. As an Intermediate Planner, Development, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Responsible for the day to day management of development applications
Provide guidance and information to internal Town staff, Council, other relevant public agencies, and the general public regarding Caledon’s planning process, Official Plan policies, and other relevant planning policies
Attend Council and other meetings to represent Planning and Development and the Planning interest of the Town of Caledon as assigned
Represent Development Review Services regarding major referrals to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal as assigned
Prepare Planning studies and reports related to both Planning and Development matters
COVID-19: In consideration of the current pandemic and Public Health orders, the Town of Caledon is providing limited in-person services as Town Hall is open to the public by appointment only. The successful candidate for Intermediate Planner, Developmentwill be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a planning professional with a post-secondary degree in Planning, or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 1-3 years related experience in land use planning, preferably in a municipal planning setting. Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and/or Canadian Institute of Planners would be an asset.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving occasional access to confidential data. We are seeking an individual with demonstrated organizational skills with considerable attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills involving regular development of new and improved methods, with the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
This position offers a salary range of $70,322.24 - $83,161.64 plus a competitive benefit package.
