Overview
LandPride is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Landscape Gardener/ Owner's Assistant to join our team.
This unique position combines outdoor field work and indoor tasks and is a great fit for a summer student (3 months) or can be a longer term employment for the right candidate. .
The tasks are diverse; in the field they range from gardening, grass cutting and light duty landscaping to vehicle cleaning, using a pressure washer and interior cleaning, In the office they range from assisting with basic office tasks such as filing and data entry to web design and social media management.
Successful candidate must enjoy working outside, be physically fit and able to do light duty labour tasks for several hours. Clean and presentable appearance, good attitude and ability to work both alone and with other crew members a must.
Examples of previous successful candidate's experience have included having had a farming background, summer tree planting, or other previous horticultural experience, combined with familiarity with technology and basic administrative tasks. These are examples and not requirements or limitations.
Training can be provided. Must have a 'G' class drivers license and reliable transportation to the Manotick area. Public transportation does not serve the area. Must be comfortable around dogs.
This role involves supporting the maintenance and enhancement of outdoor landscapes. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about gardening, horticulture, and outdoor work to develop their skills. Candidates should enjoy working outdoors, be reliable, and eager to learn new techniques in landscape maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planting, pruning, and trimming shrubs, trees, and flowers to promote healthy growth
- Operate hand tools such as pruners, shovels, rakes, and hoes for various landscaping tasks
- Use power tools including lawn mowers, trimmers, and blowers to maintain lawns and garden beds
- Perform routine landscape maintenance tasks such as edging, mulching
- Help with Landscape Construction projects
- Help with debris removal, leaf clearing, and general site cleanup to keep outdoor areas tidy
- Follow safety guidelines when handling equipment and working around plants or machinery
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and uphold quality standards
Skills
- Experience with hand tools used in gardening and landscaping is preferred
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance practices including mowing, trimming, planting, and mulching
- Basic understanding of gardening principles and horticulture practices
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and reliability in completing assigned tasks
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards
- Willingness to learn new techniques related to landscape care and horticulture
Pay: $22.00-$35.00 per hour
