Senior Workplace Consultant, Design & Sales
Buy Rite Business Furnishings is a Vancouver-based commercial furniture dealer helping businesses create better workplaces.
We work with business owners, executives, designers, contractors, project managers, and growing teams who need practical, well-designed commercial furniture solutions. Our work includes workstations, private offices, boardrooms, seating, ergonomics, storage, space planning, project coordination, delivery, installation, and post-install support.
We are an established local company with a working showroom, strong vendor relationships, an experienced operations team, and a growing vision for the next stage of the business.
We are now looking for a strong Senior Workplace Consultant, Design & Sales to help us serve higher-quality clients, win larger projects, and move opportunities forward with confidence.
The Opportunity
This role is for someone who enjoys the intersection of workplace design, client consultation, and commercial sales.
You should be comfortable walking into a client’s space, asking smart questions, understanding how their team works, and guiding them toward a furniture solution that makes sense functionally, aesthetically, financially, and operationally.
This is not a passive order-taking role. We are looking for someone who can qualify opportunities, lead consultations, make strong recommendations, present proposals, follow up professionally, and close business.
The right person will have a strong design eye, commercial awareness, sales confidence, and the ability to build trust with clients.
What You’ll Do Consult with Clients
You will meet with business owners, executives, designers, project managers, and office teams to understand their workspace needs. This may include showroom meetings, site visits, discovery calls, floor plan reviews, and project consultations.
You will ask clear questions around scope, budget, timeline, decision process, layout needs, storage requirements, ergonomics, finishes, and project priorities.
Develop Practical Workplace Solutions
You will help clients choose the right furniture solutions for their space, including workstations, private offices, meeting rooms, reception areas, seating, storage, and collaborative areas.
You do not need to be the person doing every technical drawing, but you do need to understand layout, scale, function, and client needs well enough to guide the process and collaborate effectively with our internal team.
Build and Present Proposals
You will help create and present clear, professional proposals that are aligned with the client’s goals, budget, and timeline.
You will be expected to follow up consistently, clarify next steps, manage client questions, and help move qualified opportunities toward a decision.
Drive Sales and Business Development
You will manage your own pipeline, follow up on inbound opportunities, develop relationships, and help grow new business.
This may include relationships with interior designers, contractors, commercial real estate brokers, project managers, business owners, and past clients.
We are looking for someone who is motivated by performance, enjoys winning good projects, and understands that strong sales come from trust, follow-through, and good consultation.
What You’ll Have Behind You
You will not be starting from scratch.
You will have access to:
- An established Vancouver commercial furniture company
- A working showroom and product displays
- Existing client relationships and inbound opportunities
- Vendor and manufacturer relationships
- Internal support for quoting, design, logistics, delivery, and installation
- A team that understands commercial furniture projects from consultation to install
- A company actively growing into a more design-driven, up-market position
This is a strong platform for someone who wants to build income, reputation, and long-term opportunity.
Who You Are
This Role May Not Be the Right Fit If
This role is likely not the right fit if you are looking for a purely design-focused position with little client ownership, or a purely sales-focused role with no need to understand layouts, finishes, product details, or project coordination.
It may also not be the right fit if you are uncomfortable with business development, follow-up, CRM discipline, site visits, asking clients direct qualifying questions, or having part of your income tied to sales performance.
We are looking for someone who enjoys both sides of the role: thoughtful workplace consultation and the responsibility of moving good opportunities forward.
You may be a strong fit if you are:
- Confident with clients and comfortable leading consultations
- Design-minded, but practical and commercially aware
- Motivated by sales results and performance-based income
- Strong at asking qualifying questions and uncovering real client needs
- Organized enough to manage multiple opportunities at once
- Comfortable with follow-up, CRM discipline, and documented next steps
- Professional, direct, and service-oriented
- Collaborative with design, operations, logistics, and installation teams
- Humble enough to learn, but confident enough to lead
- Someone who takes ownership and follows through
Our culture is built around high standards, teamwork, accountability, service, and continual improvement. We value people who take pride in their work, communicate clearly, support the team around them, and show up fully for clients and colleagues.
Experience We’re Looking For
Ideal experience may include:
- Commercial furniture sales
- Workplace consulting
- Interior design or furniture specification
- Contract interiors
- B2B consultative sales
- Experience working with designers, architects, contractors, project managers, or business owners
- Ability to read floor plans and understand furniture layouts
- Experience with office furniture systems, ergonomic seating, private offices, boardrooms, reception areas, and storage solutions
Experience with CET, AutoCAD, space planning software, CRM systems, or quoting tools is an asset, but not required if you bring strong commercial furniture knowledge and client-facing sales ability.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success means:
- Clients feel guided, understood, and confident
- Opportunities are qualified properly before time is heavily invested
- Proposals are clear, professional, and aligned with client needs
- Follow-up is consistent and timely
- Projects move forward with strong communication and fewer surprises
- Sales activity converts into profitable, well-managed business
- The team sees you as someone who contributes, collaborates, and raises the standard
Compensation
This role includes a competitive base salary plus commission / performance-based incentives tied to sales results and profitable project outcomes.
Expected compensation range:
- Year 1 expected earnings: approximately $65,000–$80,000
- Year 2+ earnings potential: $90,000–$120,000+ for strong performers as pipeline, client relationships, and project volume grow
The structure will be discussed with qualified candidates and is designed to reward contribution, ownership, and long-term growth.
