Reporting to the Manager, Planning & Development, the prospective candidate is eager to start working with development projects in various asset classes. The candidate must be able to prioritize and handle a diversified workload including administrative responsibilities under short timeframes within a dynamic work environment. Their primary accountability will be to provide support to the Development Team to ensure the timely delivery of the REIT’s development capital plan and the protection of our developer rights as a landowner.
Monitor Provincial and Municipal initiated updates to Planning Regulations, including but not limited to the Planning Act, Places to Grow Act, Greenbelt Act, the Niagara Escarpment Plan, Official Plan, Zoning By-Law, and Secondary Plan as they impact CHP Properties, and coordinate CHP response as required with Development Managers and Legal Counsel, including reporting to Loblaw Real Estate if required
Conduct planning and policy due diligence research
Respond to inquiries and provide support to various CHP departments
Assist the Development Manager with various planning applications (ex. Official Plan Amendment, Zoning By-law Amendment, Site Plan Applications and Minor Variances)
Coordinate with consultant teams to ensure submission materials are accurate and on schedule
Maintain project related information in CHP’s filing system
Request Letters of Credit and track reduction and cancellations
Maintain project schedules and prepare project updates
Maintain cost tracking sheets and update as invoices are approved by Development Managers
Prepare presentation materials for internal and external reporting
Perform various administrative and research support tasks for the Development Team
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in related field required (i.e. Planning, Architecture, Real Estate)
Working knowledge of Canadian planning frameworks
Ability to review complex agreements/legislation and succinctly summarize
Effective communicator with demonstrated written and verbal skills (i.e. report writing, presentations and meeting facilitation)
Proven ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships with other departments and with various levels of the organization.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and OneNote
Works well in a cross-functional team environment and has a positive outlook and attitude.
Detail-oriented, good time management and organizational skills.
Proactive individual, able to effectively manage various projects simultaneously.
