Position: Academic Adjunct Professor Faculty Advisor, Nipissing University Scholar Practitioner Program (SPP)
Site: Position based in Toronto, from UHN (TGH, TWH, PMH, TRI sites) in collaboration with Nipissing University.

Hours: Varied; (37.5 weekly)
Full-time secondment through UHN until December 31, 2022.

Nipissing University (NU) offers an innovative second degree BScN program within a unique program delivery model. Program faculty function in an expanded role; demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill to formulate academic and clinical decisions to appropriately provide, evaluate and manage student as learner experiences within required academic as well as UHN (and surrounding agency, if necessary) point of care practicum environments.

facilitate and participates in academic seminars between clinical (experiential) components of program in collaboration with other faculty
act as a resource person and advocate for the program student
encourage increasing independence in clinical practice
participate in ongoing evaluation of the student’s progress with the preceptor/mentor and others as appropriate
collaborate with student to select appropriate learning experiences with variety and increasing complexity
coordinate rotation selection requests and overall learning portfolio forecasting of experience placements in collaboration with student and agency coordinator
Qualifications:
Completion of a Masters degree program, PhD preferred
Three to five years nursing experience in an acute treatment center
Experience in nursing research methodology
Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution
Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and other organizations relevant to the role
Experience managing and leading teams within a complex multi-site matrix environment.
Excellent leadership, influencing, motivational, innovation and change management skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure/stressful conditions to meet multiple and competing deadlines in a high change environment; Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse educational approaches and student learner groups.
Program and learner oriented with an understanding of and ability to effectively work in a highly multicultural environment with multiple diverse personalities to provide effective and inclusive interpersonal skills.
