Central Newfoundland Eye Care is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our growing ophthalmology practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level LPN looking to develop specialized skills in eye care. We provide hands-on training to expand your role into ophthalmic technician duties.
About the Role:
You'll start by administering injections for diagnostic procedures (including fluorescein angiography) under the supervision of our ophthalmologist, and progress into a broader ophthalmic technician role through structured on-the-job training.
Responsibilities:
Administer intravenous fluorescein for fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) under ophthalmologist supervision, and monitor patients during and after the procedure.
Assist the ophthalmologist during patient examinations and clinical procedures Perform preliminary ophthalmic testing as training progresses (visual acuity, tonometry, refraction, imaging)
Educate patients on eye health and post-procedure care Maintain accurate electronic medical records Support patient flow and scheduling as needed
Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment and follow infection-control and safety protocols Provide compassionate, professional patient care
Requirements:
Current LPN licensure in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL)
Current CPR/BLS certification
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to learn ophthalmic procedures and technical skills through provided training
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a professional clinical environment
Willingness to commit to ophthalmic technician training
New graduates welcome; no prior ophthalmology experience required
