Concrete Finisher
Work – Commercial & Industrial Flatworks & Above/Below Grade Structural
Duration – Seasonal / Project-Based –> Full-Time Permanent Conversion Potential
Locations – Edmonton, AB (Base) — with short-term periodic out-of-town travel (3–21 days, 10–30% of annual workload) (Northern AB, Saskatchewan, & Eastern BC)
Compensation – $35–$45/hr, based on experience and competency
Run the trowel to spec, work to grade, and hold your own on a busy, high-tolerance industrial pour.
Why this is worth your time
- Pay for what you bring. Competitive rate set to your real experience and competency — not a flat band.
- Serious flatwork scopes. Industrial slabs, commercial floors, and high-specification structural flatwork.
- A team that means it. Quality, safety, and accountability are non-negotiable here.
- A future, not just a job. Seasonal entry with a strong path to extend or go permanent — based on performance and fit.
- Travel and variety. Short-term bouts across Alberta keeping the work fresh, with an Edmonton home base.
What you'll finish
- Place, spread, screed, and finish concrete flatwork to specified tolerances
- Power trowel and hand finish to Class A standards
- Set and check grade pegs; work accurately to control elevations
- Install control joints and execute post-pour curing procedures
- Operate safely and productively on active industrial pour sites
What you bring
- 3+ years of commercial or industrial concrete flatwork experience (Journeyman certification or equivalent)
- Proven proficiency with power trowels — both walk-behind and ride-on equipment
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early morning pours
- Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) licence, clean 3-year abstract
- Can clear all industrial/plant site access requirements (safety tickets, D&A testing)
- Saturday availability as schedules require
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Nice to have: Familiarity with CSA A23.1 flatness and levelness standards · experience with exposed aggregate, broom, stamp, or polished concrete finishes · First Aid / OSHA or CSTS 2020 safety tickets · background on large-scale industrial slabs.
