Cochrane Tree Care is seeking an Arborist / Tree Care Technician to join our team for the 2026 season. We provide professional tree pruning, removals, plant health care, and planting services, with a strong focus on holistic and regenerative tree care.
We are looking for someone with prior hands-on experience in arboriculture or landscaping who is confident on job sites and ready to contribute at a high level. The ideal candidate is dependable, takes initiative, communicates professionally with clients and teammates, and takes pride in doing quality work safely and efficiently.
This role is well suited to someone capable of working independently and stepping into a leadership role — supervising a labourer and running portions of a job once trust is established. We are also open to motivated individuals with solid foundational experience who are ready to grow into that position.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and/or assist with tree pruning and removals
- Safely support or execute climbing and rigging operations (where qualified)
- Operate chippers, trucks, trailers, and job-site equipment
- Maintain safe, efficient, and professional job sites
- Support plant health care and planting projects
- Lead or assist in coordinating crew workflow as needed
Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (comfortable towing trailers preferred)
- Previous experience in tree work, arboriculture, forestry, or landscape horticulture
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
- Strong safety awareness, reliability, and accountability
Assets:
- ISA Certification
- Arboriculture Canada (ArbCan) training
- Experience operating chippers and dump trucks
- Mechanically inclined
- Leadership or crew supervision experience
- Understanding of regenerative or ecological tree care principles
Compensation:
$25–$40/hour, negotiable based on experience, certifications, reliability, leadership ability, and capacity to work without supervision.
