GRIT Engineering Inc. provides professional consulting services in site plan development, land development, municipal review, and geotechnical engineering. We are seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer (P.Eng.) to support the continued growth of our geotechnical services group. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys a balance of technical report writing, field investigations, construction review, and client interaction.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing and signing geotechnical reports and recommendations, conducting senior-level inspections, supporting Excess Soil Management projects, and contributing to the development of GRIT's geotechnical team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review preliminary and detailed geotechnical investigation reports and engineering recommendations.
- Prepare Excess Soil Management documentation and recommendations in accordance with Ontario Regulation 406/19.
- Interpret borehole logs, field observations, laboratory testing results, and subsurface investigation data to develop practical engineering recommendations.
- Conduct senior-level site inspections, construction reviews, and materials testing oversight.
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in geotechnical field investigations, including borehole drilling programs, test pit investigations, subgrade inspections, and groundwater monitoring installations.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior technical staff.
- Assist with project coordination, scheduling, client communication, and proposal preparation.
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- 2-5 years of geotechnical consulting experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing geotechnical investigation reports, engineering recommendations, and technical documentation.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to clearly communicate engineering findings and recommendations.
- Ability to independently interpret field and laboratory data and apply sound engineering judgment.
- Experience conducting geotechnical field investigations and construction inspections.
- Experience with Excess Soil Management and Ontario Regulation 406/19 is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Class G driver's licence and willingness to travel within Ontario.
