We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Advisor to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental programs across our operations.
This role is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, supporting regulatory compliance, maintaining management systems, and ensuring adherence to applicable health, safety, environmental, and nuclear industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001)
- Develop, maintain, and enhance health and safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations
- Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and safety concerns; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate and deliver safety orientation and training programs for employees
- Promote safety awareness and support compliance across all levels of the organization
- Support Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, inspections, and initiatives
- Conduct internal audits and annual program reviews
- Monitor safety performance metrics, including incident rates, lost-time injuries, and corrective action tracking
- Support regulatory inspections and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and industry standards
- Maintain health and safety documentation, records, and reporting requirements
- Assist with emergency preparedness planning and response activities
- Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen workplace safety
Environmental
- Maintain and support the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
- Monitor environmental programs, policies, and compliance requirements
- Conduct environmental inspections, observations, and assessments
- Support environmental monitoring, testing, and reporting activities
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee hazardous materials management and waste storage compliance
- Maintain environmental records and documentation
- Support environmental training and awareness initiatives across the organization
- Participate in environmental audits and identify opportunities for improvement
- Review environmental incidents and investigations to ensure effective corrective action implementation
Qualifications & Requirements
- Post-secondary education (College or University) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or a related field
- Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, NCSO, CRSP designation, or equivalent certification is considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Health & Safety, HSE, or EHS Coordinator/Advisor role
- Minimum 2 years of experience working within the nuclear industry
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and environmental regulations
- Experience maintaining and supporting ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments
- Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, construction, or nuclear environments
- Strong understanding of safety management principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training facilitation skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and documentation management systems
Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
