Produce Assistant Manager assists in daily store operations in compliance with established procedures. Supervise multiple employees in Produce department. Assist in the overall coordination, direction and evaluation of departmental activities. Ensure all associates follow the company policies and laws. Recruit employees and provide training in their job duties. Assist in performance evaluation, promotions, appraisals, and release activities for employees. Resolve store problems and address employee issues. Coordinate with Produce Manager in ensuring excellent customer service. Collaborate with the Produce department to maintain the company standards and security measures. Optimize sales through prompt and excellent customer service. Coordinate with Store Owner in planning and delegating daily work assignments and schedules to associates. Order and stock merchandises according to company policies. Maintain shelf allotment and shelf tagging and ensure the products are placed in right place with appropriate labels. Dispose empty cartons and maintain the facility clean, safe and organized. Implement best practices to increase sales and profitability.
Experience Required
A Produce Assistant Managers responsibility is to provide customer service. Work in all areas of the Produce Department. Stores, in general, are brightly lit and kept at room temperature.
- The assistant is responsible for culling, filling, and stocking compliment items located in the Produce department, for consumers.
- The produce cooler must be organized, first in first out and trimming for fresh look and quality product to the customer. Popular items to be refilled and monitored during the day. The produce cooler temperature and logs are complete and checked and adjusted to meet regulations. The 3-step sanitation sink is set up to wash any produce trays and other equipment that will be cleaned throughout the day.
- An order arrives via truck. The store receiver unloads the truck and moves the pallet to the warehouse where the everyone unpacks it. Produce Assistant take a cart and load the order box by box onto the cart. Boxes weigh between 10-40 lbs. They push the cart, weighing up to 150 lbs., to the produce counter. The boxes are opened and unpacked into the cooler or sales case. Once the boxes are emptied, assistant will flatten the boxes and take them to the baler in receiving.
- Produce Assistant Manager will answer questions regarding produce items and fill customer orders. This involves weighing, wrapping and pricing items.
- Produce Assistant Manager cleans and disinfects produce tools such as knives, counters, shelves, tags, and slicers regularly throughout the day.
- Produce assistant ensuring the produce isles remains fully stocked with produce products throughout the day and floor logs are complete.
