About the Role
The Receiver is responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt of incoming materials, verification of shipments, and coordination with internal departments to ensure inventory accuracy. This role plays a critical part in maintaining material flow, supporting production, and ensuring supplier compliance. The successful candidate will also need to be open and available for shift work, evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
· Receives incoming shipments by unloading, inspecting, and verifying contents against purchase orders and packing slips.
· Confirms accuracy of quantities, product condition, and documentation; reports discrepancies or damages.
· Records received goods into the inventory system in a timely and accurate manner.
· Labels and organizes materials for proper storage or internal distribution.
· Coordinates with Purchasing and Warehouse teams to resolve shipment discrepancies.
· Ensures materials are delivered to appropriate departments or staging areas.
· Maintains clean and organized receiving and storage areas.
· Assists in inventory counts and cycle counting processes.
· Communicates with suppliers and carriers regarding shipment issues when required.
· Operates material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
· Ensures compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
· Supports continuous improvement initiatives related to receiving and inventory processes.
· Completes related duties as assigned to support operational objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Previous experience in receiving, warehousing, or logistics preferred.
· Familiarity with inventory systems (ERP/MRP) is an asset.
· Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, inventory software).
· Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and purchase orders.
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
