We are in search of a seasonal part-time 1st Cook to join our busy Food & Beverage department team. This position will be responsible for the production and cooking of food in the Club, specifically in pastries, and will provide operational support in the kitchens and ensures a positive experience for our members and guests.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare pastries and other foods for all areas of the Club: Dining Room, Sports Grill, Family Bistro, Patio, BBQ, lounges, banquets and private rooms
- Maintain high quality of food and service by providing all guests with friendly and professional services in a timely manner
- Maintain a safe and sanitary working environment
- Assist in storage, refrigeration and rotation of food
- Carries out productions delegated, arranged, ordered or requisitioned
- Food is not to be issued without the proper bills, requisition, banquet contracts or authorization by management
- Communicates with other departments to plan production and co-ordinate activities
- Communicates through supervisors, deficiencies or discrepancies
- Maintains awareness of product specifications to create a secondary quality checkpoint as stocks are put away
- Assists in controlling food costs by using up left over food and following procedures for storage and rotation
- Actively participates in requisitioning, receiving and storage of products and mis-en-place
- Practical emphases must be applied to organization, prioritization, attitude and commitment
Job Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a 1st Cook in the hospitality related industry and/or enrollment or graduation from a hospitality or culinary program preferred
- Effective combination of education and experience will be considered
- Experience and knowledge in preparation of pastries required
- Possession of Red Seal certification is an asset
- Ability to prepare small and large quantities of food, in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to prepare breakfasts, lunches and dinners
- Ability to work well under pressure and take direction
- Ability to handle and prepare a variety of raw and cooked foods
- Motivated team player with good initiative and problem solving abilities
