About the Role:
Conexiom is looking to fill the Payroll Specialist role in Vancouver, BC. This role will report to the Accounting Manager and enjoy a variety of responsibilities and support a number of important multi-national accounting functions such as payroll and accounts payable.
Conduct accurate and timely Canadian payroll calculation and entry into ADP Workforce Now
Conduct accurate and timely USA payroll calculation and submission to 3rd party bookeepers
Provide quality assurance and reviews of UK and Germany payroll and assistance in reconciliation
Coordinate with external departments such as HR for overtime, commission, employee expense, and bonus calculations
Payroll journal entry posting into Sage Intaact
Monthly payroll reconciliation to general ledger and ensure we have adequate working papers for annual audit
Assist new hires in their payroll setup including TD1 and direct deposit information
State tax and unemployment ID registrations and maintenance
Employer health tax BC calculations, remittance, journal entry, and reconciliation
Employer health tax Ontario calculations, remittance, journal entry, and reconciliation
WorkSafe BC and WSIB Ontario calculation, remittance, and journal entry
Annual T4 reconciliation and submission (including compilation of working papers for audit)
Taxable benefits review and submission to ensure accurate allocation to T4s
Canada and USA health benefits journal entries
Ad hoc Accounts Payable assistance (credit card reconciliation and journal entry)
Accounts Payable cross training to serve as backup
Assistance with annual external audit
Other tasks as assigned
Skills and Experience:
Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role
Knowledge and understanding of Canadian payroll legislation
Canadian payroll certification an asset but not required
Self-starter, requiring minimal oversight
Excellent English communication skills both verbal and written
Outstanding attention to detail
Problem-solver, looking to find new and better ways of doing things
Multi-currency / Multi-country experience is preferred
Experience with ADP payroll systems is an asset
Experience with Sage-Intacct is an asset
Experience in the tech / software industry is an asset but not required
Experience creating and/or maintaining procedural documentation
