Are you the person who notices when the numbers don't add up?
We’re looking for an Inventory Control Specialist to join a busy Guelph operation. This is a great opportunity for someone with warehouse experience who enjoys working with inventory, solving problems, investigating discrepancies, and making sure what the system says is actually what is on the floor.
If you have experience with inventory control, cycle counting, SAP, warehouse operations, or material handling equipment, we want to hear from you.
Location: Guelph, Ontario
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Pay: $22.00/hour
Position: Inventory Control Specialist
What you'll be doing
You’ll play an important role in keeping inventory accurate, organized, and moving properly. Your day will include:
- Performing regular cycle counts and investigating inventory discrepancies
- Comparing physical inventory to system records and making necessary adjustments
- Using SAP to issue, transfer, block, release, and adjust inventory
- Investigating the root cause of discrepancies and helping implement corrective actions
- Working with warehouse, quality, and other internal teams to resolve inventory issues
- Managing inventory that is damaged, returned, held for quality purposes, or involved in a recall
- Creating and maintaining approvals and documentation for inventory movements
- Verifying damaged and returned products against approved authorizations
- Supporting improvements to inventory processes and procedures
- Ensuring all inventory activities and documentation are completed accurately and on time
- Following GMP, company procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory standards
- Keeping the warehouse and work area clean, safe, and organized
What we're looking for
You don't need to have done everything listed above. We’re looking for someone with a solid warehouse foundation who is comfortable taking ownership and learning.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous warehouse experience
- Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, or inventory reconciliation
- Experience working with an ERP system, preferably SAP
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player
- A strong sense of urgency and customer service
- A safety-first mindset
- The ability to operate material handling equipment
Forklift experience is NOT required. Experience operating a Raymond Reach or Order Picker/Cherry Picker is a strong asset, but not required.
You must also be comfortable working at heights and lifting up to 50 lbs when required.
Why this opportunity?
This isn't just a role where you're counting inventory all day.
You'll be investigating why discrepancies happen, working with different teams to solve problems, using SAP to manage inventory, and helping improve the way inventory is controlled.
If you're someone who likes to figure out "why doesn't this number match?" instead of simply flagging the problem and moving on, this could be a great fit.
