TEACHING POSITION
Assignment: School Psychologist
The assignment may change due to the itinerant nature of the position, or to meet the needs of the school's educational program, grade organization, and/or enrolment.
1.00 FTE CONTINUING
Commencing January 1, 2027 or possibly sooner.
The successful candidate will be expected to:

Use valid psycho-educational, formal and informal, assessment methods for assessing referred students;

Demonstrate knowledge of current, effective assessment measures;

Facilitate the use of a variety of assessment data for student program planning;

Collaborate with school staff regarding developmentally appropriate strategies, assessments, and interventions for students;

Interpret data for the appropriate identification, placement, or referral for medical professional assessment/interventions;

Serve as a resource for families and school teams to assist in meeting the needs of students;

Work with community agencies in providing assessment data and recommendations for student identification and transition planning.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

A Master's degree in school/educational psychology or a related field with a focus on school psychology;

Registration by May 1, 2024 in the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (CPBC), with special training in school psychology;

Coursework, training and ability to administer and interpret individual intelligence and curriculum-based tests;

Experience working in the education system, with knowledge of instruction and assessment;

Experience developing effective recommendations to assist teachers and parents in working with students who experience challenges in the school setting.
