Company: Elect Solutions
Type: Startup Environment – Flexible Hours, High Impact
About Us
Elect Solutions is a growing tech startup helping Central BC thrive in the digital age. We serve homes and small businesses with everything from diagnostics and repairs to custom PC builds, IT support, network setup, and tech education. Trusted for our reliability, versatility, and community focus, we’re building more than computers — we’re building digital confidence across the Cariboo region.
Job Overview
We’re looking for a skilled, hands-on Computer Technician who can confidently troubleshoot, build systems from scratch, and guide clients through tech challenges. This is a hybrid support-and-field role where no two days are alike — one day you might be optimizing a custom gaming rig, the next, mentoring a teen through their first Python script. You’ll work independently and collaboratively to support users across platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux) while bringing strong hardware, software, and networking knowledge to the table.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical support across Windows, macOS, and Linux systems
- Diagnose and repair desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and A/V setups
- Resolve software issues (including Microsoft Office, malware removal, VPN problems)
- Handle network connectivity and basic LAN/WAN configuration
- Use platforms like ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy to manage tickets and track progress
- Document fixes and create internal/external knowledge base articles
Custom Builds & Upgrades
- Build custom desktop systems to user specs (gaming, video editing, business use)
- Upgrade and optimize hardware (RAM, GPUs, CPUs, SSDs, cooling systems)
- Perform electrical diagnostics related to IT systems and peripherals
- Ensure performance tuning for speed, stability, and thermal efficiency
Client Education & Community Engagement
- Provide one-on-one guidance on security, system use, and maintenance
- Mentor youth and tech learners in areas like safe computing, AI tools, and coding basics (HTML/CSS, Python, JavaScript)
- Support community events, tech workshops, and hands-on boot camps
Regional Field Support (Preferred)
- Deliver remote and on-site support to clients across Quesnel, Williams Lake, and Prince George
- Assist with IT asset management, software licensing, and basic A/V system setup
- Help households and businesses integrate smart home or presentation tech
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in IT, computer repair, or technical support
- Experience in desktop support, hardware repair, or tech troubleshooting
- Strong ability to build computers from customer specifications and performance needs
- Experience with networking, VPNs, firewalls, and operating systems
- Clear communication skills — especially with non-technical users
- Ability to work independently across rural/semi-remote areas with light travel
- Passion for learning, mentoring, and community impact
Bonus Skills (Valued)
- Familiarity with data recovery tools and cybersecurity best practices
- Experience in configuring LAN/WAN systems, routers, switches, and A/V equipment
- Background in mobile device support and home automation setups
- Ability to assist with IT inventory, procurement, and small-scale project management
Why Join Us?
- Startup Energy – Help shape our services and training programs
- Versatile Projects – From troubleshooting laptops to high-performance builds
- Community Impact – Empower locals with real tech skills and support
